Grand Prix World 1998: The Tyrell Challenge Part 44

We don't need a Silverstone split: The 2002 French and British GPs

Welcome back to The Tyrell Challenge where we still own everything. I'm guessing a ton of teams are complaining of Tyrell's dominance boring fans. To us, it doesn't matter. There is potential for us to win 16 out of 16 races, you know? We'll see if we get there. For now, we are just halfway there. We have more GPs to go through.

All of the midfield (and Arrows) bring upgrades for the British, Prost bring upgrades for, where else, France. Ferrari upgrade for Britain while we upgrade for France.

Everything working perfectly fine over here. Well ... everything but the Pole column. We are not ... that good over there. Again, our driver/car packages are better on race day.

The FIA certainly like us. Money, at this point, is not a factor anymore, but we'll appreciate any and all income.

The track I'll keep calling the French "Barcelona", Magny Cours. Tires/Engines tend to overheat, but our Tires/Engine are sufficiently buffed so that is not a real issue. Well rounded in all other aspects, so our car should be fine today. Is up to the drivers.

SOP for us, "Wind" points, and a "Heat" point for good measure.

The guys heard me complain about the lack of "Poles" and got a 1-2. And an easy 1-2 at that, only MSC is close, everyone else is a sec behind. First Pole of the year for Quick Nick.

Oh, Luca.

Just a straight up 2 stopper from both guys. Minimize variance, as we appear to be the top team today.

I did say we were the top team today, didn't we. Nice to see Diniz scoring solid points. Lapped nearly EVERYONE. MSC was juuuuuust fast enough. Nick was not quick enough today, Fisi wins it.

What a mess. Herbert and Takagi, your punters of the weekend.

S P E E D! Illustrated. Pretty even with, but faster than, the Ferraris, and just 1.4 secs quicker than the rest.

The WDC is pretty much an all Tyrell affair. And well ... 8 wins out of 16 races. Looking good so far.

Tons of Driver Aids out there. Not my problem, so I'll allow them to get away with it.

Uhhhh ... we lapped nearly the WHOLE field. It was an easy 1-2. Manager of the Month when?

There's no real need for us to boost Performance until the FIA decided to Tech Regulations. So we'll boost Reliability until it happens.

Ultimate Wet Weather tires, which we might not get close to using, but are there if needed.

The cars are ready for Silverstone. Let's go!

Silverstone, the track with notoriously drunk weather. Low Dust, so our "All Dust" setup is a bit diminished. Anyway, If rain even DARES to show up, expect Nick to not be good.

Full "Dust", some "Rain" in case it appears, and a "Speed" point because where else I'm supposed to deploy it?

This is not a good sign.

Just wait until the track dries out. Once again, 1 sec faster than the rest of the field, only Ferrari is close.

All of Minardi makes it to the race.

Damn it. Welp ... Nick be in trouble.

I was planning to give Nick a 3 stop in the dry. Won't work, thanks weather. Basic 1 and 2 stoppers for the day.

As predicted, Fisi won this. Without too much drama either. The interesting part was Heidfeld's journey. Struggled in the wet, then it dried up, and he just smashed everyone but Fisi. Solid day for him, could have been a race winning day if his wet weather skill was up to par.

Your punter of the day is Mika Hakkinen. Good job, man.

That championship is slipping away from Nick. It's still an all Tyrell affair.

Utter dominance in the WCC as well.

Winfield Jordan and Marlboro Sauber ... I ... guess ... yeah.

Benson & Hedges Stewart too ...

Again, we've been so, so dominant today.

Come on, guys! Finally got the Manager of the Month award, but we lost a driver aid to someone.

We are expected to make nearly $82m. And that steady climb in our cash assets will only stop when we have to build the new race cars ... then it will continue going up.

Here's the progression of our manager ranking, not sure WHAT makes the ranking go down but ... did something that made it go down.

Not sure what has Di Montezemolo done that makes him better than me ... but ... apparently he is.

The new race car design IS done. We'll build them soon enough.

That's it for today. Next up, the biggest threat to our 16 out of 16 season, Austria, and the easiest track on the game, Germany. See you then.
