Grand Prix World 1998: The Tyrell Challenge Part 43
They are fighting back: The 2002 Monaco and Canadian GPs
Kept you waiting, huh? Welcome back to The Tyrell Challenge where we have won pretty much everything we can win, 5 race wins on 5 races. Just 2 poles, though, so our car isn't exactly a world beater ... at least, not yet. Everyone will be bringing upgrades, Ferrari will be the only ones that can fight us, however. Speaking of that ...
Stewart with a big upgrade package that gets them ... a bit closer to their expected performance, and to the rest of the pack. Not much has changed. That will change on the next event, as our upgrades package is about to hit.
Told you, 5 wins. 2 poles, both by Fisi. I want some more of those.
The parade known as the Monaco GP, where overtaking is optional and drivers get tired really quickly. Dust is a major concern, too. You know what that means.
Full on "Dust", as per usual.
Not only it was pole, it was a front row lockout. Nick was stupid quick today, but that's because he has Softs. Fisi has Hards. I'm experimenting today.
This a Badoer appreciation comment.
So, 2 stopper for Nick, those Softs need the 2 or 3 stop, and 3 stops are dumb on this track so ...
Fisi on the 1 stop, thank you Hard tires.
Guess the 1 stop was better. Nick was a bit too slow on the first stint. That said, Fisi held up the entire pack, so Nick's slowness was covered up. BTW, lapped nearly the entire field again.
So many DNFs. Villeneuve got punted yet again.
Fisi in complete control of this championship.
Tyrell, overall, dominating the whole ordeal.
Ferrari-Mercedes is ... still extremely hilarious.
Yep, we are so big of a GigaChad team that we are trash talking everyone else.
We had a ONE-TWO FINISH!! Anyway, we filled out our sponsors.
Ultimate Brake Performance for better overtake and defense. Reliability is looking fine too. Technology is generally working right.
2003 Car Design is progressing perfectly fine.
Also perfectly fine, our test days.
And our tire compounds, Ultimate Inters in this case.
Every car is patched up too. Let's keep rolling!
So, Canada. Bumpy, destroys brakes, a bit hard to pass, but that's not an issue. Pace I think won't be problematic either.
Full on "Dust" as per usual. Careful with the Brakes, tho.
Oh, this is a bit of an issue. This is THE race where Ferrari is going to be faster than us, of course. We are using Hard tires so ... that's partially the reason.
Heh ... nice order down here.
Split strategy time! Fisi will be our lead driver, he'll go with what I think is the best strategy, the 2 stop.
Nick will play rear gunner, a 1 stop and he'll hold the field up as much as he can.
Welp ... guess I was wrong in terms of strategy. Like I said, Ferrari was superior to us in pace. Nick had to defend for his life in the final laps.
Oh, Jean ...
This is still a fight for the championship ... just between Tyrell drivers.
Tyrell domination!
Good for you on that pole, Jacques. Man finished 4th.
We'll do Reliability upgrades down the stretch pretty much.
New upgrade hit! Extra 5% performance. That should help us a bit in terms of overtaking Ferrari in terms of development.
Hmmm ... just a bit low on the Research.
So ... extra tire wear on fast tracks which ... shouldn't be an issue.
Ultimate Soft tires, which I rate.
That's it for this chapter. Next time, France and Great Britain. A track where we struggle, and a track where we have change the course of 2 seasons. What will the result be? I hope for MORE dominance. See you then.
