The Era of Consistency: The 1999 French and British GPs
Welcome back to the The Tyrell Challenge, where we have an interesting situation in our hands. We are tied for P3 in the WCC which is ... well, I did not expect this to be a possibility when we started the year. Can we fight for it? ... I don't know. I won't comment on it since we know what happens when I comment on Championship Battle. DC definitely knows. Let's keep going!
All teams have made it to Chassis Spec B now. Arrows has severely underperformed this year despite the 4th best chassis. I don't mind that, though.
Damn it, Mechanics. What do you want from me?!
Magny Cours is a fantastic track, look at all those points! The only part that suffers is cooling off the car. This track can push the car a lot.
For that reason, we will use our few setup points into "Heat". We want to keep these cars somewhat cool.
Rain. We know what this means. Get ready for the 107% rule to kick in.
Stop the Count!! Tyrell Best Team Confirmed!!!
Takagi had a fantastic Qualy session today. Diniz was ... off ... we are Soft tire running this thing.
Oh, look at the Tosser. Fantastic.
Do not be deceived. It WILL rain later. At one point it got very wet, Full Wets territory, but it dried so quickly it was a bad idea to switch tires.
Double points! As you might imagine, we didn't outpace Villeneuve. Thanks to the weather and a ... fairly bad race from him, we out-strategized him. We also managed to beat Arrows yet again.
Yes, best of the rest!
I said, best of the rest!! I'm actually disappointed, look at Benetton, they are meh despite having a top 3 car. '95 Williams moment, everyone. I know this trash talking will end up well. Yep.
As expected, building that 4th car was expensive. I will not regret this.
Williams, why?! Also, it wasn't JUST missed. We was a whole lap down.
CASTROL! Traitors! I'm looking for Cash Sponsors and these idiots keep taking them!
Ferrari are running all kinds of driver aids. ILLEGAL Driver Aids may I add. I could try and steal them, but their aids are probably so complex for my Chief Mechanic he'll fail to comprehend the design.
Development of next year's car is running really, really well.
In the Mechanics area, I'm starting to invest in Development research again. There's a small, but existent, chance of us getting P3 in the WCC. I want to take advantage of that. For that, car must get better.
Fully repaired cars for Silverstone.
Our financial situation for the next year is fantastic. First, here's this year's sponsorship, at least Estimated Sponsorship. $10m is quite a bit.
We'll just casually more than double that for next year, with even more to come. That OK with y'all? Good.
Another fantastic race track in the form of Silverstone. It ... well, it makes poor Cars suffer (That's the Wind stat) and exposes Car Handling issues. We hope the guys keep it under control.
For this one, I'm dumping the points on "Rain". There's a high chance we have a wet session, Qualy or Race, and I want to make the most of it. Specially a wet race. That could be free points, you know.
What did I say?
It didn't last long, true. Whatever, STOP THE COUNT!
They did not stop it. You might notice we are BARELY in the Top 10? I went for the Hard tires on this one. We looking for that 1 stopper and ... I hope we can maintain enough track position to jump fools. If it rains, so much the better ... I suppose.
Tosser, you need to set a DRY lap time to make it into the race, you know that?!
The RNGesus decided that it would be a dry-wet race, do not be deceived.
McLaren 1-2, Salo good result again (That trash talk woke him up), double points finish. All around good weekend ... well, Rubens beat us. Doesn't matter, all weekends are GOOD when we score double points.
Uh-huh, that's a Ferrari double DNF. Collard took out Villeneuve, then The Michael blew up. And yes, you are reading right, there was a PITLANE FIRE on the Williams garage.
There's a reason I'm posting the WCC first. We have now built a trench in P3. Trench that Team Enstone and Prost could easily assault, but we'll hold the fort as long as possible.
This looks fine. Salo is climbing up, however.
Damn it, Fisi. I now have to scroll down to show ALL points scorers. This will only happen this one time. At all other times, I'll just show the first page.
Damn right I'm happy.
*sigh*
Same team too. Arrows wants BEEF.
I would be mad too if a FIRE suddenly broke out in a garage ... years after I made rules to PREVENT that very thing!
We getting money back now. That's great.
Good, we filled the Development bar, used the Development bar, and now know how to improve the car.
... Damn it ... ok, Poor Balance. The worst penalty in the game, IMO. What that does to our cars? Increases Brake Wear (So can't be too aggressive with them), reduces defense against overtaking maneuvers (that's a big concern) and increases chances of driver error. We need to smash that issue ASAP.
Couldn't totally repair Car 2, so just brought Car 4 out for a spin on the Styrian Mountains.
I don't think we are selling shares at all this year, but they sure went up in value.
Righty then, that's it for today. Next episode, Austria and the big battlefield known as the Hockemheimring, where significant points WILL be at stake. If the top 4 has any sort of issue, we could think podium. See you then.
